Red Bull Arena in New York City will host the international friendly between Serbia and Jamaica. Both sides have failed to qualify for the World Cup.
Serbia is currently in rebuilding mode and they finished 3rd in the World Cup qualifying group behind Belgium and Croatia. The Serbs are in very good form with 4 wins and 1 draw in the last 5 games and have won 2-1 against Ireland in their last match in March. Serbia will field a mixed squad today but a strong one nonetheless, with some solid players expected to be in the lineup.

Jamaica had a horrible, horrible World Cup qualifying campaign, finishing on the last place in Central America with just 5 points in 10 games, failing to win a single match! The Jamaicans are on the back of 2 consecutive friendly wins against Barbados (2-0) and St. Lucia (5-0), but the opposition was very poor and those were the only wins for Jamaica in the last 17 matches! The central americans will field a lineup consisting mostly of players from the domestic league. Their style of play mostly revolves around good defense and counterattacks, as they have a couple of pretty fast guys who can do damage on the break.
It’s very hard to look past Serbia in this game, despite the fact that the venue will maybe favor Jamaica a bit more. Serbia is not qualified for the World Cup so they will be able to focus on this international friendly tournament in New York. Jamaica has one of the worst teams in the last decades, they have so little quality and no form, so I see no way for them to realistically challenge Serbia. Indeed they can defend at a decent level and usually do not lose big, but the Serbs have played well lately and they should be able to get past Jamaica’s defense a couple of times to secure a handicap win. My tip is Serbia to win and cover the 1,5 goal handicap. Odds are going up on Serbia, maybe because of the vanue and the fact that they miss some players, but I remain confident in the pick. Prediction: Serbia – Jamaica 3-0.
