South Korea – Belgium

South Korea Belgium betting previewSouth Korea made a poor impression in the World Cup but can still qualify if they beat Belgium by 3 goals. Of course it is almost impossible, but they at least have something to fight for. Belgium is already qualified but can lose the first place if they don’t win and Algeria beats Russia. So there are some stakes in this match.

South Korea almost failed to qualify for the World Cup but fended off Uzbekistan to finish 2nd behind Iran and reach Brazil. Unfortunately for them they don’t have the same quality of players like in the past, and have played very poor football in the last 2 years. In the last 7 games, South Korea lost 5 times. Here in Brazil they managed to hold an underachieving Russia to a 1-1 draw but were dismantled 4-2 by Belgium in an awful display, Korea Republic was lucky to escape with just a 2 goal deficit. All players are fit for South Korea.

South Korea lineup: Jung Sung-Ryong – Lee Young, Hong Jeong-Ho, Kim Young-Gwon, Yun Suk-Young – Han Kook-Young, Ki Sung-Yueng; Lee Chung-Yong, Koo Ja-Cheol, Son Heung-Min – Park Chu-Young.

Belgium got off to a good start with 2 wins but they didn’t amaze with their football. Both wins came late with goal scored from substitutes (Mertens the hero with two), but after all there were two wins and everything is good for the Devils. Some people expected them to cruise with the talent they have, but they are still inexperienced and World Cup will rarely provide easy matches. My opinion is that the fighting spirit Belgium showed counts more than a 3-0 success. For this game Mark Wilmots has all players fit.

Belgium lineup: Courtois – Borre, Kompany, Lombaerts, Vertonghen – DembΓ©lΓ©, Defour – Mirallas, Chadli, Hazard – Origi

Belgium wants the first place and it’s a realistic possibility they will lose it if they don’t get at least a point. For sure they will not risk anything by playing this out for a draw and will go for the win. South Korea has showed little quality so far and their defense was particularly poor, so I see Belgium creating a number of goal scoring opportunities and taking at least one of them. I am convinced Belgium will win, I’m not sure if they will cover the handicap but I will still tip them to win by a 1 goal asian handicap for better odds and value, so in the worst case (in my opinion) we get our money back. But I think Belgium will make this bet a winner, especially towards the end of the game when Korea Republic will be low on morale and fitness. Correct score prediction: South Korea – Belgium 0-3.

  1. I agree. I do not see South Korea winning. There is a high chance that more than 0-3 can occur due to South Korea’s desperation of having to attack aggressively and make goals, enabling Belgium to score easily. Belgium’s back-up members will show the passion to make goals in hopes of being selected as starting members in the round of 16.
