Spain – Georgia

Casillas Fabregas Spain

Coliseum Alfonso Pérez in Madrid will host Spain’s last friendly prior to Euro 2016, with ‘La Furia Roja’ taking on Georgia as a 1.10 odds favorite.

Spain played very well in preparation for Euro 2016 so far, posting a goal difference of 9-2 in two friendly wins against Bosnia Herzegovina and South Korea – both much more difficult opponents than Georgia. Spain is on the back of a 6-1 victory over South Korea and will hope for a similar result today in order to travel for France with high morale. While the team is not at strong as 4-6 years ago, Spain is actually playing very well, posting 9 wins and 2 draws in the last 11 matches.

Georgia was absolutely dreadful in a 1-5 loss against Romania a few days ago. The Georgians simply did not come to play, they were totally outmatched by a mediocre opponent and their defense was as bad as it could get at this level – Romania could have actually added a couple more goals. Georgia decided to reform the national team prior to the Euro 2016 qualies, bringing in a lot of young players and dropping their veterans, but so far it`s not working. They were poor in the qualifications and an absolute disaster on the road.

Team news & lineups:

With this being their last match prior to Euro 2016, Spain is expected to field a very competitive side, though there will probably be a few changes to the so called best lineup. Georgia should field a similar first 11 to the one that lost against Romania.

Spain: Casillas – Bellerin, Pique, Bartra, Azplicueta – Koke, Fabregas, Iniesta – Vazquez, Morata, Nolito.

Georgia: Revishvili – Amisulashvili, Lobjanidze, Kashia, Navalovski – Kankava, Kobakhidze, Ananidze, Kenia – Dvalishvili, Mchedlidze.

Georgia avoided losing on the road just 3 times in the last 17 matches and that was against Albania, Gibraltar and Saudi Arabia. They will definitely not avoid a loss today, but it`s unlikely they can avoid a heavy beating either. They can only improve to a certain extent in a couple of days after looking abysmal against Romania a few days ago – and it`s not like this young squad looked much better in any other matches over the last year.

While this is just a friendly, Spain has not shied away from banging in goals in recent test matches and with this being the final pre Euro 2016 match, they might be even more motivated. Georgia’s defense is a complete disaster, so I can see an in form Spain side scoring at least 3 goals here even without trying too much. My tip is Spain to win and cover the 2,25 goal asian handicap. Prediction: Spain – Georgia 4-0.

Pick: Spain (-2,25 Asian Handicap)

Possible profit: 5.04

    • Just one of those things that happens once in 100 tries. I usually stay away from friendlies, but I followed Georgia recently, saw them play and that`s why I bet 8 units on this match. It happens. Hopefully my basketball form stays solid and I`m back on profit tomorrow with a GSW win tonight.
