Bellucci is one of the most inconsistent guys you will find on the ATP tour. He did find some stability this season, but still manages to alternate excellent tennis with rubbish performances. He lost his last two matches prior to Bastad (including one against Zverev), but played much better this week, winning in straight sets over Ymer and Lindell. Good results, but the level of opposition was obviously rather poor.
Zverev seems to really like this period of the year, as his breakthrough happened around the same time last year and he`s again playing great this week. The talented youngster struggled in the first round against Reister, but put on a clinical performance in the second match against Monaco, 6-4 6-2. I watched that encounter and the German was brilliant, not giving Monaco any time, playing attacking tennis and barely missing a shot. He`ll surely be keen to replicate that performance today.

The Head 2 Head is 1-0 for Zverev and the only meeting actually took place just weeks ago, at Nottingham. While grass possibly gave Zverev an advantage, the 6-7 6-3 6-4 win was pretty impressive. Bellucci will hope that it will be different on clay – he is much better on this surface than on grass, but Zverev also loves the red dirt.
We don`t know if Zverev will play at the same level he did against Monaco, but if he does it, he will probably win this match. The same can be said about Bellucci, with the inconsistent Brazilian having equal chances of playing great or playing poorly. But you have to feel that Zverev’s win and performance over Monaco holds more value, as he proved his form against a solid opponent. Also there is the fact of the recent victory recorded by Alexander against Bellucci.
Bottom line, this is a match that can pretty much go either way, so having the option to bet on Zverev at odds over 3.00 is too good to miss. My tip is Zverev to win. Prediction: Thomaz Bellucci – Alexander Zverev 6-7 6-3 3-6.
