High quality final expected in Stockholm when Tomas Berdych takes on Grigor Dimitrov, with the two players also involved in a dogfight for qualification at the ATP World Tour finals.
Berdych`s performance in the semifinals against Bachinger was a little shaky, I reckon Bachinger posed more of a threat than he should have in the 7-6 6-4 Berdych win. Nevertheless, Tomas played good tennis and he`s on a solid run at the moment, not losing a single set this week (also played Brown, Copil) and most notably coming after a final at Beijing and a quarterfinal exit at Shanghai against an in-form Gilles Simon. There`s no question that Tomas has improved after a couple of bad months, he found his power, consistency and depth again.
Dimitrov got past Gabashvili, Sock and Tomic, all matches being tight. The Bulgarian was actually close to a defeat against Jack Sock but he recovered from 0-1 down to win in three sets. Dimitrov had a breakout year this season but since Wimbledon he was not in his best form. He did not defeat a single Top 30 player in the last 10 weeks and lost to guys like Janowicz or Benneteau, with the frenchman handing him a 2nd round straight sets loss last week in Shanghai. Dimitrov said after the semifinal that he likes his chances today against Berdych.
Bet on Tomas Berdych vs. Grigor Dimitrov at ATP Stockholm with the best odds offered by Unibet.
The H2H is 3-1 for Dimitrov (2-0 on hard, 1-1 in 2014). A 3-1 H2H is not particularly relevant but having watched all matches between the two I can say that Grigor does hold a matchup advantage: he beat an in form Berdych twice when he was very young and the only loss was this year at Madrid when Dimitrov really did not play his best tennis. All games were tight and all went to three sets.
Normally I would pick Berdych to win this, he`s the better player and playing better tennis, but the margins are small in both categories and I`m worried the H2H and matchup might nullify Berdych`s advantages. I think the better bet (at the same odds) is over 22,5 games – this should be a tight one, nobody really holds a sufficient edge to cruise, also both guys have solid serves and a tiebreak is not out of the questions. There`s also a good chance it will go to three sets, after all every one of their meetings so far needed a deciding set.
My tip is over 22,5 games, hopefully a 7-6 6-3 won`t ruin this, but I don`t think that will happen – I expect an easy win for this bet in 3 sets. Maximum stakes. Prediction: Tomas Berdych – Grigor Dimitrov 7-6 3-6 6-4.

i think dimitrov will win this.
if dimitrov is in form he might finish him in 2 quick sets.
Hmmm .. indeed I was scared myself to bet on Berdych, but with the Birdman in solid form I can`t see a guy like Dimitrov beating him easily. If he wins, I reckon it`ll be a battle, Grigor still has a long way to go before blowing guys like Berdych off the court (if they are in good form, and Birdman is).
Good pick! I am wondering why you are focusing on Men’s game, just because you know the men’s game better? Or the nature of men’s tennis makes it easier to predict?
Personally, I find women’s tennis is easier for me. It seems that, in men’s tennis, only a handful of players are unbeatable when they are in-form, anyone could beat anyone in a good day. The competition is much more intense comparing to women’s game.
