Very interesting match-up between Torino and Roma in the Italian Serie A this Sunday.
Torino is falling at high speeds after starting the season with some great results. Injuries and squad quality have caught up with them and Torino failed to win the last 6th matches. At home they are still able to hold their own in terms of not losing, but they are not winning either: 1 win, 3 draws, 1 loss. Torino is now on 12th place and would like to get some points against Roma, but they could not have asked for a tougher opponent. The hosts continue to miss almost an entire team for today: Gillet, Brighi, Bovo, Larrondo, Vives, Farnerud and Rodriguez (the last two doubtful – but shouldn`t play).

However, Roma seems to have lost a little big of pace in the last two rounds, in large part because of the injuries of Gervinho and Totti. The visitors struggled against Udinese and Chievo, winning both games 1-0 with goals in the last 25 minutes. The Udinese game was a tough one on the road, but against Chievo Roma had problems creating chances against the weakest team in the league and should have done better. Gervinho, Totti and Destro are again out, and for this game Castan will also be unavailable. But at least they will welcome back regular right-back Maicon.

Roma needs Totti and Gervinho back as soon as possible if they want to keep winning and go in the record books, but against this depleted Torino side they should be able to get another close win. Florenzi – Borriello – Ljajic is still a great attacking line to play with against weaker teams. Borriello can be trusted to take the chances presented to him, Florenzi is having a great season and Ljajic should be set for a big game today after a very poor performance last round. These guys are also supported by a top-class midfield (in my oppinion the key to Roma`s success) Torino should open up a little bit more than Chievo did, and Roma also doesn`t have the same pressure to get a win like in the last round. The Giallorossi`s defense is rock solid, they have Burdisso as a decent replacement for Castan and they should have the whole 90 minutes at their disposal to get the winning goal. I can`t see the hosts as being the first team to take points from Roma, not while missing so many players and playing so bad. Two rounds ago they played against Napoli and they were just so powerless, not being able to pose the slightest sign of threat and being lucky to only lose 2-0. With another display like that, it`s very hard to look past Roma today and the odds for a Giallorossi win are great. It`s clearly a logical thought to expect Torino`s injuries to make the difference today and Roma to win. My pick? Torino – AS Roma 0-2.
