Tottenham will host Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool at White Hart Lane, with the German manager making his highly anticipated debut in charge of the Reds.
Tottenham is fresh of a 2-2 draw at Swansea, another good result in a string of a 7 consecutive Premier League matches without a loss. The Spurs did lose to rivals Arsenal in the League Cup recently, but even than they played a decent match. Tottenham is currently 8th in the table, 1 point above Liverpool and only 5 points behind league leaders Manchester City, so it`s safe to say that this is a big match for both Spurs and ‘Pool.
The visitors will start life under Jurgen Klopp, but surely nobody should expect fireworks right from the start. Liverpool has struggled so far this season, particularly in front of goal, scoring only 8 goals in 8 matches, which is really pathetic for a team of their caliber, which invested well over 50 million pounds on players like Benteke or Firmino. ‘Pool is on the back of a 1-1 home draw in the Merseyside derby against Everton.

Team news & lineups:
Tottenham will be without Dier, Bentaleb, Mason, Pritchard and Son, while Liverpool has massive squad problems and will have to field a weakened lineup – particularly on the offensive end. Benteke, Firmino, Ings, Henderson, Flanagan, Gomez and Rossiter are all unavailable, while Sturridge, Lovren and Coutinho are doubtful – with only Coutinho having a decent chance to start.
Tottenham: Lloris – Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies – Alli, Dembele – Lamela, Eriksen, Chadli – Kane
Liverpool: Mignolet – Clyne, Skrtel, Sakho, Moreno – Leiva, Can – Milner, Coutinho, Lallana – Origi (Sturridge)
Tottenham has been playing some nice attacking football lately and we know that Jurgen’s Klopp philosophy at Liverpool will be to play an attacking brand of soccer. However, I don`t think we should expect high scoring affair here. For all their recent goalscoring form, Tottenham remains a team that is often involved in ugly, low scoring matches and the average of goals scored in their matches this season is just 2,25 goals – exactly the same as Liverpool’s.
It would be foolish to expect Liverpool to look like Borussia Dortmund in Klopp’s first game, he will need time to implement his idea and surely he will not ask an all out attacking game from his players after just arriving to town, against a strong opponent in a difficult match. And than there’s Liverpool injury list, with the Reds being absolutely decimated up front – with Benteke, Ings and Firmino all out, while Coutinho and Sturridge are highly doubtful.
With Liverpool missing almost its whole offensive setup and expecting Klopp to be cautious in his first match, I reckon there is some great value to be taken on the under / over market. My tip is under 2,5 goals to be scored and the odds are dropping on this one. 1xBet still with an excellent price. Prediction: Tottenham – Liverpool 1-1.
