This pick comes a little late, but with more than 4 hours to go until the start of the game I think it`s still worth writing. Universitatea Cluj will take on Dinamo Bucharest in the 2nd round of the Romanian Liga 1. Both sides are trying to overcome financial problems, being in an insolvability state.
Universitatea Cluj is a team that will fight to avoid relegation this season, especially after they lost their top marksman last week, Valentin Lemnaru, to Steaua. The hosts have a decent side and coaching staff but they can`t be considered a team capable to finish in the top half of the table. Cluj looked pretty good in their first match of the season, an important 1-0 win over Petrolul in the League Cup, but their next (and latest) game saw them barely getting a 0-0 draw at newcomers Targu Mures.
Despite their financial problems, Dinamo Bucharest is actually looking pretty good right now, despite losing some important players in the summer, all of them in the defensive area. Since Flavius Stoican took over as coach late last year Dinamo played good football, they finished 4th in the league, reached the Cup semifinals and started the current season in excellent fashion: 3-1 away against Chiajna, 4-0 at home against Otelul, teams of similar quality to U Cluj, maybe just a little bit worse. Dinamo has a good mix of young players and pretty good foreign imports, the offensive setup is no doubt top 4 in the country but the defense does not look great.

Dinamo had a pretty good run against U Cluj lately, winning 3 of the last 4 meetings, including a 6-0 success last season. The Red Dogs are looking pretty good right now, the players are motivated and explosive, so I think the visitors have a good chance to at lease repeat last season’s performance when they won 1-0 here. I expect a tight match but in the end Dinamo should have too much quality for the hosts and the good form of the Red Dogs will help them capitalize on that. My tip is Dinamo to win and the odds are dropping on this pick. Prediction: Universitatea Cluj – Dinamo Bucharest 1-2.
