Second round clash in Vienna between Vasek Pospisil and Andy Murray, with the Scot fighting desperately to gain access in the Barclay`s World Tour finals.
Pospisil struggled big time against Brands in the first round, winning via a third set tiebreak, but the German will always be a tough opponent indoor. Vasek did not have the best of seasons but has improved since the US hard court swing and played pretty well in Asia as well – losing in the 2nd round at all three tournaments but putting in solid losing efforts against Djokovic, Bautista Agut and Monaco.
Murray is still searching for his best tennis, he is yet to truly recovering after the surgery last year. Andy is playing good tennis but he`s not quite able to take that final step and replicate his old level of play. He is on the back of a third round exit at Shanghai (lost to Ferrer) and this will be hist first match in Vienna (had a bye in the first round).
Bet on Vasek Pospisil vs. Andy Murray at ATP Vienna with the best odds offered by Pinnacle.
The H2H is 0-0, this will be the first meeting between the two. I can`t say any player holds a matchup advantage, Vasek is maybe a little bit more natural indoor but Murray is the better player and likes the surface himself.
Listen, I expect Murray to eventually win this, but with this being his first match in Vienna I don`t think we will see the best tennis from him – especially since he is playing and will play a lot of matches in these few months, so he has to pace himself. Pospisil has a lot of talent and if he`s serving well he can always challenge the big boys, after all he almost defeated Federer just two months ago in Cincinnati. Expect the Canadian to step on the court focused and motivated and he should be able to take a set when Murray lowers his level. My tip is Pospisil +1,5 set handicap, I trust this bet much more than the game handicap (and it has better odds as well). Prediction: Vasek Pospisil – Andy Murray 7-5 2-6 4-6.
Pick: Pospisil (+1,5 set handicap)
