Viitorul Constanta takes on Dinamo Bucharest in the third round of the Romanian Liga 1. This time around Viitorul can finally play at home, even if fans are not a factor for them. In the last years they played their home games in Bucharest, as they did not have an own stadium.
The home side is set for another mid table finish this season, they are a team that relies heavily on developing youngsters, with a few experienced guys here and there. So far Viitorul recorded two draws against CFR Cluj and Botosani, both times 2-2, mediocre level of play overall. Until last season Viitorul, in its short history, was undefeated against Dinamo, but the Red Dogs took a 2-0 road win in the spring, so that invincibility factor is gone.
Dinamo did not play particularly well in the first two rounds, but they were Ok and most importantly they won 4 points from two difficult matches – 0-0 away with last years’ vicechampions Targu Mures and a rather lucky 1-0 home win against CSU Craiova. Dinamo arguably has a weaker team than last season, but they are much better coached, with Mircea Rednic being a colossal upgrade over the managers that were at Dinamo last season. The biggest problem for the Red Dogs is offense – they virtually don`t have a single striker. Bilinski and captain Marius Niculae were let go and Alexe was recently sold. Dinamo brought in a Belgian forward but he is not yet ready to play, so Mircea Rednic will likely improvise again with young winger Rotariu (who scored last week) up front.

Viitorul can`t count on Taru, while key striker Bonilla might be involved from the bench after just coming back from the Gold Cup. Dinamo has a full squad available, with regular left back Filip coming back from injury.

This will be a very tight clash, but I reckon Dinamo has the first chance. They are healthy, have a bit more quality and most importantly they have a coach that can be trusted. A draw certainly can`t be counted out, so my tip is Dinamo +0 Asian Handicap. They should at least get the tie – after all Viitorul has not won a game this season and the Red Dogs have not lost – but Dinamo could edge it if they manage to get past the lack of a striker, like they did last round. Additionally, Dinamo’s attacking midfielder Valentin Lazar stated that the whole team is focused on not allowing a goal and that they are desperate to keep a third clean sheet in a row. This approach surely minimizes a risk of a loss.
All in all, go with Dinamo +0 Asian handicap here (draw no bet). The bottom line is that we should be safe of not losing the bet and with a bit of luck we can also get the profit with a very good return of investment. Prediction: Viitorul Constanta – Dinamo Bucharest 0-1.
