Viitorul – Dinamo

Marius Niculae Dinamo legendViitorul takes on Dinamo Bucharest in the Romanian Liga 1. The match will be played in Chiajna – basically in Bucharest – so home court advantage is massively diluted for Viitorul, a team with no fans and actually with no city to be attributed to (as weird as that is). Dinamo will be the much better supported team here, so the hosts can only take the familiarity of the stadium as an advantage of playing at home. However, despite Dinamo always having better fan support against Viitorul, they did not win either of the 5 direct meetings since todays’ hosts were founded. Viitorul has 3 wins and 2 draws against Dinamo, despite always being rated as the weaker team.

Back to the analysis of today’s match, there are interesting circumstances here, as Dinamo has went trough massive changes in the last few days.

Viitorul (7th place) had a good second part of the season but since they virtually fended off relegation they have been dreadful – 1 point in the last 3 matches and a 1-6 loss last round against ASA Targu Mures. The hosts are dreaming to play Europa League football next season but not because of their quality, but because of the bankrupcy / insolvency state of most sides in the Romanian Liga 1. Overall they are a peculiar side with inconsistent results and heavily suspected of fixing matches.

Dinamo Bucharest (8th place) lost the biggest Romanian derby at home against Steaua on Sunday, 1-3, wrapping up one of the worst strings of results in club history – just 1 win in the last 9 matches. Finally coach Flavius Stoican was fired and he was replaced by a totally different caliber of manager, Mircea Rednic (ex Dinamo, Standard Liege, Gent, Rapid, CFR Cluj, Petrolul). Rednic is known to have an immediate impact on the teams he takes over and this could work in Dinamo’s favor, with most players having to play for their contracts in these last 4 rounds – they are in danger of being fired, just as right back Barboianu was a few days ago, with the owner accusing him of fixing the Steaua match. A new, experienced football manager has been brought as well.

Team news & lineups
:

Regular center back Mamele is suspended for Viitorul, while Dinamo won’t be able to count on midfielder Matei.

Viitorul: Albut – Manea, Taru, Perju, Mitrea – Nikolov, Benzar, Daminuta – Nicolita, Henrique, Tanase

Dinamo: T. Marc – Fai, A. Marc, Bunoza, Filip – Nedelcearu, Elhamed – Rotariu, Bilinski, Grozav – Niculae

Overall I can see the visitors being a little upset after their colleague Barboianu was fired due to match fixing, but this will likely have the effect of an adrenaline shot – they need to play for their livelyhood in these last few rounds and Mircea Rednic is not a manager to accept compromises. Dinamo doesn’t have a poor squad and if they play at their best, with a capable manager, they should end up with the three points against a poor side in horrible form like Viitorul, especially as there’s no real home court advantage here. My tip is Dinamo Bucharest to win with a +0 asian handicap, at the worst case I can see a draw happening and the odds are super tasty due to latest events. Prediction: Viitorul – Dinamo Bucharest 1-2.

Pick: Dinamo (+0 Asian Handicap)
Odds: 1.97 @ Pinnacle
Stake: 9
Possible profit: 8.73
Event date: 8 May
