Wizards – Trailblazers

Wizards Blazers betting tips

The Washington Wizards will host the Portland Trailblazers on Sunday night in the NBA.

The Wizards (5-10, 3-4 home) seemed to be on the comeback trail after recently winning three games in a row, but the run was short lived, as the team lost Friday at home to the Nets. The Wizards are having a dreadful season and seem to be getting worse even after year despite having a talented group of players and two stars in Wall and Beal. They have been very poor so far, particularly on the defensive end.

The Blazers (10-5, 3-3 away) have lost their last two matches against the Lakers and the Timberwolves, both on the road, and pretty ugly as well – but overall it has been a good season so far for them. The Blazers will likely struggle again in the playoffs as they rely way too much on Lillard’s and McCollum’s scoring, but for the regular season they are well built, and it`s no surprise that they are small favorites to beat this struggling Wizards side.

Team news: Washington has a full roster available, while Portland will be without role players Curry and Harkless.

The points total line for this game is set at 224 points, which seems a bit on the low side.

Washington and Portland are two of the good offensive teams in the league, Washington being 11th in points scored per game (and 7th in pace), and Portland 7th in ppg. More importantly, Washington is one of the worst defensive teams in the league. Incredibly, only Atlanta Hawks allows more points per game than the Wizards.

In Washington’s game there is an average of 227.8 points being scored, while in Portland’s matches there is an average of 222.5 points being scored. Based on these stats the current line does seem fair – but the matchup also comes into play.

Washington plays with a pace which suits Portland perfectly and both teams have high scoring backcourts who usually do not excel in guarding opposite guards.

The two teams already met once this season back in October and the score in regular time was 111-111, so under 224 points. But, those 222 points were scored despite some very poor shooting percentages. Washington shot 41% and 40% from three, while Portland shot 39% and just 28% from three! McCollum was just 5 from 25 for Portland. These percentages are unlikely to be repeated.

If these two teams scored 222 points despite very bad shooting a few weeks ago, it`s fair to expect 230+ points this time around from two of the highest scoring back courts in the league. The game is also expected to be close, so we could get help from some extra free throws in the last minute.

My tip will be over 224 points to be scored. Prediction: Washington Wizards – Portland Trailblazers 116 – 118.

Pick: over 224 points

Possible profit: 6.65
