Wizards – Raptors

Wizards Raptors prediction

The Washington Wizards face a must win Game 3 at home on Friday night, after losing the first two games of the series rather clearly in Toronto.

The Wizards (43-39, 23-18 home in the regular season) are pretty much the same team which was one game away from reaching the Conference finals last year, but they are definitely not playing the same way. It has been a poor year for the Wizards, who barely made the playoffs as an 8th seed, and they didn`t look better in the first two games in Toronto. The team is dysfunctional, the players aren`t seeing eye to eye and the coaching is suspect.

The Raptors (59-23, 25-16 away) have been hands down the best team in the East this season, and played like it in the first two games against the Wizards, even if they did have some hiccups during Game 1. Always underrated, the Raptors do look like they could finally get out of the East this season. They are exceptionally well balanced, having a go to star like DeRozan, a great coach and a fantastic bench, arguably the best in the league.

Team news: The Wizards only miss Meeks (out for the season), while the Raptors have VanVleet questionable, but he should play, as he already came back to play three minutes in Game 2.

The Raptors are hands down the better team here, and they are also a bad matchup for the Wizards. A well structured, disciplined and deep team like the Ratptors is exactly the kind of opponent which can punish a dysfunctional and inconsistent side like the Wizards.

Washington is just not playing well, their two stars Wall and Beal don`t seem to be on the same page and the chemistry just doesn`t seem to be there. Coach Scott Brooks (who`s not doing a great job either) practically admitted all of these when he talked about possibly changing the starting lineup for Game 3.

Home court advantage will be important for the Wizards here and they will hope to at least avoid a sweep, but they might lose this series 0-4 if something drastic doesn`t change.

This could be a close game throughout, but in the end the Raptors should be too deep and steady for this shaky Wizards side.

Unless the Wizards get hot shooting the ball or Toronto has a rare bad night, the Raptors should go up 3-0 tonight. My tip is Toronto to cover the +1,5 point handicap. Prediction: Washington Wizards – Toronto Raptors 105 – 111.
