West Bromwich Albion will look to build on a great performance last week when they host Burnley today at The Hawthorns
WBA got their first win of the season in style, edging Tottenham 1-0 last round at White Hart Lane and backing it up with a 3-2 victory over Hull City in the League Cup. Seems WBA is really starting to find rhythm, they always had a good defense but scoring at Tottenham and doing it 3 times against Hull shows clear signs of improvements in the offensive department as well. A win today would see West Brom go well ahead the danger zone and that is exactly what they want, arguably what they deserve as well.
Burnley has put together a run of 3 clean sheets in a row, but unfortunately for the visitors they were all 0-0 draws (Man United, Crystal Palace, Sunderland). Burnley is yet to win a game this season and has scored a single goal in 5 rounds (zero goals in the last 5 matches in all competitions), which is a real problem – and even more, considering their screaming lack of quality up front, I`m not sure if they can improve. The Premier League newcomers are currently second to last in the standings with 3 points.
Team news & lineups
Baird is out for WBA, while Anichebe and Ideye are questionable. Burnley has a number of injury concerns – Vokes, Ings and Taylor are definitely out, while Trippier, Jones and Marney are doubtful.
West Brom: Foster – Wisdom, Dawson, Lescott, Pocognoli – Dorrans, Gardner, Brunt, Morrison – Berahino, Ideye
Burnley: Heaton – Trippier, Duff, Shackell, Mee – Arfield, Marney, Jones, Boyd – Jutkiewicz, Sordell
An under seems really likely here, Burnley is a super defensive team with zero firepower while West Brom had troubles up front as well, but I am not satisfied by the odds and I will pick a bet with similar chances to win but a match better price: West Brom to win. I really like how the hosts handled themselves in the last 2 games, they have really clicked in the last week and they surely have the quality to outplay this Burnley side at home. Expect West Brom to put pressure over the 90 minutes and eventually find the winning goal(s). My tip is West Brom to win, really good odds on this bet and we could see a very nice ROI. Prediction: West Bromwich Albion – Burnley 2-0.
