Young Boys – Shakhtar

Young Boys Shakhtar Donetsk Champions League tips

Young Boys face an impossible task in the Champions League 3rd qualifying round second leg after the Swiss side lost the first leg 0-2.

Young Boys could not do much damage in the first leg, as they were dominated by Shakhtar and now have a mountain to climb in the second leg. The Swiss side couldn`t showcase its offensive power against a rusty Shakhtar, which was a disappointment, but on the other hand Young Boys did play 35 minutes with 10 men, so in the end the result was respectable. The hosts are on the back of a 1-2 home loss against Lugano in Switzerland – a poor result, even though they did have this reverse leg against Shakhtar in mind.

Shakhtar wasn’t at full steam last week, as the team is still getting used to life under Paulo Fonseca after previously being managed for 12 years by Mircea Lucescu. Even so, the winner was never put in question in that first leg and the Ukrainians fully deserved their 2-0 win. The visitors seem to be in convincing form to start the season, coming after a 4-1 away win over Chernomorets Odessa in the domestic league.

Team news: Gerndt, Zakaria, Seferi, Benito, Fekete, Schick and Vilotic are out for Young Boys Bern, while Shakhtar continues to miss Azevedo.

Young Boys doesn`t seem to be in great form and they got thoroughly outplayed in the first leg. Even if they have home court advantage this time around, it’s difficult to see the hosts winning this game. On the other hand, Shakhtar is not expected to force the issue and they should be content with waiting out the final whistle.

This seems to be a routine tie for the Ukrainians and after seeing them in the first leg, they really look like they simply want to get the job done without being too concerned about the score or about pushing themselves to the limits.

The analysis of this match is pretty straightforward as far as I`m concerned. Given all the facts stated above, I reckon a draw is the most likely scenario in this clash and the odds for a tied game are obviously excellent. However, Shakhtar owns so much more quality that I have to secure my bet on the draw here in case of an away win. As such, my tip will be a draw on the Shakhtar win no bet market and I will invest high stakes due to the fact that the risk of losing the bet seems very small. Prediction: Young Boys Bern – Shakhtar Donetsk 1-1.

Pick: Draw – Shakhtar win no bet
