Anderlecht – Galatasaray

Anderlecht Galatasaray betting previewAnderlecht and Galatasaray will square off at Constant Vanded Stock in a battle for the third place in this Champions League group D. Both sides would still have a chance to finish second if Arsenal loses to Dortmund, but realistically speaking only the third place is on the line here.

Anderlecht’s miraculous 3-3 draw at the Emirates after being 3-0 down gave them a massive edge over Galata, as the Belgians have a 1 point advantage and can book the third place today, at home. Anderlecht`s only other point in this group actually came in Turkey, a 1-1 draw, so they will consider they have a great chance at home. It may not be so easy though, as Anderlecht is struggling a lot this season and aside from that fluke result in London they have been largely disappointing – poor in the Champions League and even worse in Belgium, where despite being second they won just 50% of their games and lost 3-1 to Charleroi at the weekend – a bad defeat, even if Anderlecht surely had only the Galata game in mind.

Similar to Anderlecht, Galata is just 1 point behind the leaders in Turkey but you have to feel they have been much worse than their record suggests. 3 defeats in 10 rounds in Turkey is not acceptable for this side but they are struggling big time to find any rhythm and have lost 4 of their last 6 games in all competitions. The manner of those defeats however was absolutely shocking, we`re talking about 0-4 and 1-4 against Dortmund, 0-4 against Istanbul BB and 0-3 at home to Trabzonspor over the weekend. Cesare Prandelli might not be the right man for this team, despite his credentials.

Team news & lineups

Anderlecht will miss key man Defour along with N’Sakala, Nuytinck and Suarez – some pretty heavy missings. Galatasaray will have to do without Dzemaili, suspended.

Anderlecht: Proto – Deschacht, Mbemba, Vanden Borre, Praet – Kljestan, Tielemans – Najar, Praet, Conte – Mitrovic

Galatasaray: Muslera – TarΔ±k, Chedjou, Sarioglu, Gunter – Selcuk, Melo, Hamit – Sneijder – Yilmaz, Umut Bulut

It`s pretty obvious that these two side have no business being in this competition, at least this year, but nevertheless it will be interesting to see who gets to play Europa League football next spring. Galatasaray is clearly not trustworthy at these odds but Anderlecht is not much better either, so I`m heavily inclined to get the draw here. However, I think I can do better on this match than just a value bet, so my tip is a draw at half time – the importance of the clash is huge, nobody will take risks and quite frankly nobody seems capable of putting a foothold on this match. Aside for a silly mistake I can see this match being decided in the closing stages. High stakes on this bet, as the odds at Bet365 are simply brilliant, way above the average. Prediction: Anderlecht – Galatasaray 1-0 (0-0 half time).
