Celtics – Thunder

Celtics Thunder prediction

The Boston Celtics will take on the Oklahoma City Thunder at the TD Garden, in what should be an interesting clash on Tuesday Night in the NBA.

The Celtics (47-23, 23-13 home) are currently the 2nd seeded team in the West, and that is likely where they will finish the regular season, as they are far behind the Raptors and far ahead of the Cavs. Lately Boston has not played very well, losing 7 of their last 14 games and 3 of their last 4. The recent struggles have been mainly due to injuries, as the Celtics are currently heavily shorthanded, and that will be the case again tonight.

The Thunder (43-29, 18-18 away) have climbed up to the 4th place in the Western Conference, but they can realistically finish from 3rd to 8th, as the race for the playoffs in incredibly tight in the West. OKC has played some very solid basketball lately, winning 8 of their last 10 games, including 6 in a row. They have every reason to be confident of prolonging the winning run tonight in Boston, especially after they beat the excellent Raptors in Toronto a couple of nights ago.

Team news & injury report: The Celtics will be without their best two players, Hayward (a long term absentee) and Irving, as well as fellow starter Brown and 6th man Smart. Theis, a good rotation player, is also out. OKC has Roberson out for the season, but he is the only missing player.

The Thunder have an absolute nightmarish schedule coming up, so tonight`s match is almost a must win game, considering Boston`s situation.

The Celtics miss too many important players and are clearly below their normal level at the moment. In the last 14 games, they have just one win against a playoff-caliber team. And in that win (against the Wolves) they had Irving, Brown, Theis and Smart available – all of whom will be out of the lineup for today.

A healthy and in form Thunder team should be able to claim the win here against a decimated Celtics side. The point spread is set at just 4 points in favor of the visitors, and taking all facts into account, the Thunder look good value to cover it.

All that being said, my tip here will be for the Thunder to win and cover a 4 point (asian) handicap. Prediction: Boston Celtics – Oklahoma City Thunder 96 – 108.

  1. Seat Mr Rostick,

I would like to hear your honest opinion about a tennis match.

It’s about tomorrow’s game Medvedev vs Tsitsipas.. IMO easy win for Medvedev, apparently betting advisers think differently. 50-50 odds both 1.9 on Unibet. Am I missing something or is this (on paper) a nice value bet?

    • I agree Medvedev is the favorite, but it`s a tricky match between two youngsters who can be inconsistent. Both played pretty well in the last few weeks. I think a price around 1.70 would be fair for Medvedev, so there`s probably a bit of value on him for now (odds are dropping).

  2. Man yo are cursed..
