Burnley – Leicester

Burnley Leicester City football tipsBurnley takes on a resurgent Leicester City side at Turf Moor in a massive clash counting for the Premier League relegation battle.

The hosts attracted a lot of praises recently for their tough gameplan and fighting spirit against top teams – but with a single point in the last 4 rounds, Burnley fell to the last place in the standings and keeping Premier League status will be a huge challenge. The hosts do have fight in them, that`s for sure, but defending draws and narrow losses is not enough to bring home results. Burnley lost 9 out of the last 13 matches and is on the back of two 1-0 losses against Arsenal and Everton.

Leicester recent improvement has shocked the English football world. The Foxes seemed doomed to relegate, but three wins in the last three matches helped them climb to the 18th place, tied in points with the last spot that assures Premier League football next season – and they have one game in hand over most other relegation threatened sides. Leicester is on the back of a 2-0 win over Swansea, the 3rd consecutive game in which they scored at least twice.

Team news & lineups:

Barnes, Long and Marney will not play for Burnley today. Nugent and Wasilevski are doubtful for the Foxes, but otherwise Leicester can field the best lineup.

Burnley: Heaton – Trippier, Duff, Shackell, Mee – Boyd, Arfield, Jones, Kightly – Vokes – Ings

Leicester: Schmeichel – Wasilewski, Huth, Morgan, Albrighton – King, Cambiasso – Mahrez, Vardy, Kramaric – Ulloa

Leicester is truly an amazing story this year, they came into the league with high hopes and started off with some excellent results, but faded away to the point where relegation seemed certain. They found their best football in the absolute last moment and will view this game as a huge opportunity to gain another three points, which would put them in a perfect position before the last 5 matches. I really can`t see Burnley taking the three points – they can hold off top teams with their defense but struggle when they have to keep the ball more and create something. They scored a single goal in the last 7 matches, and have not scored in the last 4. With Leicester scoring for fun lately, Burnley really needs to find the net today.

However, Leicester are by no means world beaters right now and Burnley remains a very respectable team at home, being very hard to break down. Both teams would love the win, but in all honesty nobody wants to lose and a draw would be a fair result for everybody. I`m expecting a draw here, but my tip is Draw Leicester no bet (win at draw, money back if Leicester wins) – a safety net in case Leicester manages to pull of a 4th victory in a row. Prediction: Burnley – Leicester City 1-1.
