Espanyol Barcelona hosts FC Sevilla in the La Liga Primera second round.
Espanyol did not look to well in the first round … playing at Almeria they were saved in the last seconds to get a 1-1 draw which I don’t know if they deserved. Espanyol had problems in defense against a team that does not score much so they need to be extra careful against a team like Sevilla who knows how to get things done up front. Playing at home will give Espanyol more confidence but for sure they need to play better football if they don’t want to have problems with relegation … they were also poor in friendlies. Espanyol only has Arbilla unavailable and hope new signing Felipe Caicedo can create danger up front.

After getting beat 2-0 by Real in the European Supercup Sevilla narrowly missed the win vs. Valencia in the first round getting equalized in the ending stages of the game but truth to be told Valencia deserved to get something from that game. Sevilla has a good team this year and will try to attack Champions League or at least Europa League spots but they lost CB Fazio this week to Tottenham. Gameiro and Beto are out from the lineup, Trochowski, Vidal and Iborra are question marks.

Espanyol played poor football in the first La Liga match and even though Sevilla has some injuries and did not start the season to well I think they deserve to be slightly favored by the bookies – which they are not. If Espanyol does not improve I see them allowing a couple of goals and losing the game, but even with improvements it will be hard to win against a better football team like Sevilla.
