Jerzy Janowicz and Sam Querrey will square off tonight in Winston-Salem, with both players looking to reach their first final in 2014.
Janowicz had a poor year but it seems he is finding some rhythm at the proper moment, prior to the US Open. Querrey had a similar poor year with Janowicz but this tournament he really stepped it up and played very good tennis – good serving, good movement, excellent groundstrokes. Big Sam defeated Garcia Lopez in 3 sets yesterday, his first set lost this week after beating Riba, Johnson and Anderson in straight sets.
The H2H is 1-0 for Janowicz, an easy win last year, but that does not mean he has any matchup advantage over Querrey.
Big Sam has been sharper than Jerzy this week in Winston-Salem but it`s hard to bet against an improving Pole at odds under 1.65.
