Clippers – Bucks

Clippers Bucks handicapping

The Los Angeles Clippers will return at home after a grueling road trip, and will hope to maintain their playoff chances alive with a win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday night.

The Clippers (39-34, 20-15 home) have lost 5 of their last 7 games, and that sent them out of the playoff picture for now. But that doesn`t mean they have been playing poorly – in fact, it was quite the opposite. The Clippers played well during this stretch, just like they have been doing since December. Unfortunately for them, they had a nightmare schedule, and the losses (all of them competitive) came against top teams, 4 of them on the road: Houston, Oklahoma City, Portland, Minnesota and Indiana. That being said, the Clippers have won 2 of their last 3, beating these same Bucks a few nights ago and the mighty Raptors, in Toronto, on Sunday.

The Bucks (39-34, 16-19 away) are currently the 7th seed in the Eastern Conference and are sure to make the playoffs due to the opposition being weaker out there. The visitors won 2 games in a row, against the Bulls and the Spurs, but that being said they haven`t been that great recently. If you look at Milwaukee’s last 15 games, they won only 6 of those and have only beaten two serious teams, the Sixers and the Spurs – both times in close games at home.

Team news: The Bucks will continue to miss Brogdon, while Dellavedova is doubtful. The Clippers will continue to be without Beverley and Bradley (both long term injuries), but could get Gallinari back, as he is likely to return – although that`s not a sure thing.

Even if these two teams have the same record, the Clippers are the better side, and they proved it just a few days ago when they have beaten and dominated the Bucks in Milwaukee. Now, back at home, you would expect the Clippers to beat this team again.

The Clips have been very consistent all season and in the last three months they won almost all the games in which they were favored by the bookies. They haven`t lost against a non playoff team since before Christmas. While it`s true that the Bucks ARE a playoff team, they are one of the worst ones, maybe the worst. It`s just their luck that they are in the much weaker Western Conference.

The Clippers know this is an absolutely must win game and a defeat would almost surely send them out of the playoffs, while a win will keep their chances alive – albeit they will still be rather low.

I trust the Clippers to continue their good play, do another professional job, and win the game. They are just better than these Bucks and play like a team, as opposed to the visitors who rely almost exclusively on Giannis to get them over the line.

It could be relatively tight and a blowout is not necessarily on the cards, but the point spread is set rather low and should be within LA’s grasp. The straight win is obviously the safer choice and the odds are competitive on that, but my tip will be the LA Clippers to cover the -3 point (asian) handicap. Prediction: LA Clippers – Milwaukee Bucks 117 – 105.
