Man City – Leicester

Vardy goal Liverpool

Manchester City will host the amazing Leicester City at Etihad, in what is one of the biggest matches of the 2015/2016 Premier League season.

The home side has played pretty well lately, winning 4 of the last 5 matches in all competitions, generally pretty comfortably. They still struggle a bit on the road, as they did last week in the 1-0 victory over Sunderland, but overall City seems to be the main title contender right now, even if they are 3 points behind today’s opponents Leicester. It remains to be seen how the team will cope with the news that Guardiola will take over from Pellegrini next season.

The Foxes are three points clear at the top of the table and a result today at Etihad Stadium will arguably make them title favorites for the first time this season. Leicester is on the back of a brilliant 2-0 win over Liverpool, playing another excellent game, destroying ‘Pool on the break with speed and fast passes. As I said before, Leicester is no fluke and it’s easy to see that looking at the level of football they play. If Mahrez wouldn’t have missed 2 penalties in January, Leicester would have a 7 point cushion at the top right now.

Team news & lineups:

Man City is struggling with injuries, as they will miss Kompany, De Bruyne, Mangala, Bony and Nasri, while Delph and Navas are questionable. Leicester City is healthier, only missing Schlupp and James. Amartey is doubtful. The Foxes will likely field the same lineup that won over Liverpool.

Man City: Hart – Sagna, Otamendi, Demichelis, Kolarov – Fernandinho, Fernando – Silva, Toure, Sterling – Aguero

Leicester: Schmeichel – Simpson, Morgan, Huth, Fuchs – Albrighton, Drinkwater, Kante, Mahrez – Vardy, Okazaki

Leicester is finally starting to be taken seriously by experts and fans, but even so their odds are still higher than they should be today. With only two defeats all season, the Foxes should be given more respect and I reckon that there’s value to be taken, again, betting on them.

Manchester City will be under a lot of pressure, their lineup is a bit weakened by injuries and the hosts did have some ugly hiccups this season, even though they are brilliant at home. City hasn’t been a monument of consistency and a free-playing, confident Leicester side is a team that can trouble them. I expect the massive counterattacking threat of Leicester to create problems and if Okazaki, Vardy or Mahrez will be effective, the visitors can pull off the upset. Leicester’s speed on the break will be problematic for Man City, especially with Kompany and Mangala out.

My tip is Leicester City to cover the 0,75 asian handicap. Even if Man City wins by 1 goal, we at least get half of our stakes back. Prediction: Manchester City – Leicester City 1-1.

Pick: Leicester (+0,75 Asian Handicap)
