Yesterday I was wrong about the stage outcome because I thought pure sprinters like Bohanni will not make the front group after the climb towards the end. However no team really pushed that hard on the climb and Bouhanni managed to be there at teh end and win. My selections for the win Felline and Swift were second and third.
For this stage I'm pretty sure Buhanni won't be at the end again. Even he siad in an interview that he thinks this stage is too hard for him and he will most likely fall behind here. This means powerful climbers like my selection Wellens should have a chance to take the glory.
This stage will have more than 1 climb and this means pure sprinters won't be at the end. However guys like Swift or Felline should be able to hang on on the climbs so teams like BMC or Moviestar won't work that hard to get them at the finish because their sprint is too strong and would most likely win. This means a guy like Wellens could launch an attack and only Sky and Trek will try to catch him.
Wellens was very strong yesterday on the climb and on the descent. He was the first guy to ctach Siutsou on the descent.
Wellens likes to launch long attacks and this stage should be perfect for a move like that. I don't think teams that are looking for a General Classification win will be very concerned about him considering his time trial is not amazing and he should also lose some time in the last stage on the long final climb.
Wellens had a very good 2015 with a GC win in Eneco Tour and a win in Grand Prix Montreal. Both this races are World Tour and he gained the time to win Eneco in a stage that was pretty similar to this one.
There might be rain in today stage and Wellens loves hard conditions.
