Rolland Garros first round. Johanna Larsson is a player I've watched for a while as she is a decent player that is usually underestimated by the bookmakers in the tournaments she plays.
Larsson is a player that does not excell in a particular area. She does a lot of things well but not one thing great. Her first serve is decent, not great, but her second serve is vulnerable. She lilkes playing long points, she is great at recovering points that were all but lost, but she can take the initiative if the opponents allows it.
Gavrilova is a young star, i've written about her before. She is a all rounder but it seems clay is a surfice that is particularly good for her. She has some of the best movement aorund the court I've seen on the women's tour. She hits the ball hard and positiong and angles are a big part of her game. She looks to take the initiative from behind the line but she is also a great counterattacker and punishes short balls. Gavrilova is simply the better player and is the clear favorite here. I have been burned before on handicaps so I avoid high odds but I see Gavrilova dominating both on her serve and on the opponents. We should see a lot of breaks but, all in all, Gavrilova should take this easily. My predition> 6-3 6-2 Gavrilova.
