Romania round 5 sees the biggest derby in local football. Steaua - Dinamo used to be a classic in Romanian football but hard time show that history does not forgive financial shortcomings.
Unfortunately, I am a little late to this party and the odd on Dinamo has gone way down, yesterday it was around 5.80 today around 4.40, but still I think there is a little value to be had here. Steaua has had a very bad start to the season and it is clear that Steaua is nowhere near the level of previous years. They were eliminated this week by Partizan Belgrade after a decent first half to the match. But Steaua showed their limits in that game. They had opportunities to kill the game and missed, the defense was horrible. Moreover, it is unclear if Varela, the captain, best player and basically only real central defender will play and even if he does he will do so using medical assistance as he is injured. The other central defender Paul Papp made a horrible game in Belgrade but he will probably start as Steaua does not really have options in the back. On the offensive Steaua will be missing Stanciu who was in good form and will have to rely probably on Iancu, Chipciu, Tade and Hamroun to bring something.
Dinamo is an interesting team this year, not very strong but with a lot of potential. Some talented young players, some experienced, a good coach and a very influential manager should see Dinamo fight for a top 4 finish. To be clear: Steaua has the better team overall. Dinamo will be relying on a mobile midfield with talented players that can win one on one duels with Steaua's defenders and central midfielders. Steaua should control the game but Dinamo will have their chances on the counterattack. The home court advantage for Steaua does not exist in this case, as Dinamo supporters will outnumber those of Steaua.
All in all, Steaa is the favorite here, but with their current form, their morale and their main investor saying that he cannot invest in Steaua anymore, they will probably not be at their best. Dinamo's coach I expect to prepare the game very well and take advantage of Steaua's weaknesses in defense. I use low odds because I think Dinamo would be happy with a draw but I don't like the X2 option because of the low odd. So low stakes for somewhat of a gamble, but I believe Dinamo has a good chance for an upset today.
