Anna Schmiedlova, 20 years old, is currently ranked number 52 in the world and she does have the potential to get higher. Her game is interesting as she does have a bit of everything: a very good first serve, when it goes in, she can get power on her shots but she can also focus on placement and angles, she moves well around the court and can adapt to pretty much any surface. That being said, she does have problems and the biggest one is inconsistency: she alternates very fast between incredible shots and very easy mistakes, her backhand could also use some more work.
Alyson van Uytvanck, 21 years old, is currently ranked 93 in the world. She is a power hitter and a lot of her game is based on having the initiative and making her opponent hit the ball from a less than optimal position. Her biggest problem, in my opinion, is her movement around the court which should be decisive for today. The Belgian has a very good first serve and can make strong shots from both the forehand and the backhand. She is prone to making a lot on unforced errors. This year on clay she won 6 games and lost 4, but 5 on the six games were in the qualifiers.
Schmiedlova is not in a very good form winning four and losing four on clay this year. But the surface really gives her the edge in the match. She is more consistent and if she can take the initiative and move her opponent around, she should win this easily. The two play each other twice before, Schmiedlova winning both in straight sets and by a margin higher than 6 games. My prediction: 6-3 6-3
