Important! Possibility of temporary banning Romanian users

Hey guys! First of all, I hope you are all enjoying the Holidays with your friends and families, getting some well deserved relaxation & good old fun ahead of another year of work. I want to send a message to all our Romanian readers.

Due to the change of the gambling legislation in Romania, we might have to close the shop a few weeks for Romanian users – which are a huge part of Betdistrict, not necessarily in numbers (5-8% of total visitors), but in quality, as many of you are long time readers.

We have not yet made a decision and the banning of Romanian users would only be temporary, but I want everyone to know about the possibility. Also, I would like to present you with free options to continue accessing Betdistrict if we will indeed decide to ban Romanian users in the following weeks.

You can still access Betdistrict via a proxy service (ex: hide.me/en/proxy)

Best option, download Tor Browser. It’s a fast, safe and secure incognito browser for which you will likely find many other uses. The browser will not use your IP and you will be able to browse Betdistrict freely even if it’s banned in Romania (as well as other betting services like Bet365, for livescores, odds, etc.). Much faster than proxy services.

Just note these options down and if you find yourself unable to visit Betdistrict one day, you can use them. Happy new year and I hope you will all have fun tonight! Rostick.

  1. Stiff times in your country, really sorry to hear it can go that deep in restrictions beating any other country… Regarding the access via foreign IP I would suggest installing Zenmate for Chrome or any Android devices, it is times better and faster than proxies and Tor.

    • Yea, it’s pretty bad and frustrating both for punters and affiliates, because Romanians know that the laws are not in the best interest of the state, instead they are made to the benefit certain local companies.

Thanks for the suggestions, I recommended what I thought were the most simple solutions.

I appreciate the solidarity from a reputable website like Betrush. Best of luck mate!

    • Unfortunately the legislation concerning online betting in Romania is a a basic definition of abuse by the state in favor of the few. It protects chosen companies to the detriment of the population and the detriment of free market competition. It is very hard to believe that it is going to be held up in the European Court system where it is being challenged. Sorry about the news and hope it doesn’t get to that but you have to do what you have to do.

    • That’s exactly true Ares. It remains to be seen what will happen in the future, but my guess is that it will be held up … the European Court is not immune to corruption at all. As for us, we will almost surely ban the website for Romania very soon, but only temporary.

  2. Sorry to hear that but that’s life. Unfortunately, this domain is not the only one to be affected. With all the laws that have either passed or are being discussed regarding the monitoring of internet activity in Romania, turning on a computer is a gamble. I kind of look at my PC the same way TV’s were in the 1984 novel. I exaggerate of course but not by much. Any way, I’ll be seeing you and good luck.

    • We must admit that some regulations need to happen, it’s not normal for foreign companies to operate in Romania without paying taxes. BUT, instead of regulating the field so that everybody can pay taxes for the economy to grow, we choose to virtually ban gambling websites, just to favor the “smart boys” who entered the market knowing the laws before they were given. It’s so typical, no surprise, but still disappointing.

The poor idiots were shocked when Bet365 obeyed the crazy regulations, did not know what to do to keep them out of the market, I was laughing my ass off 🙂
