The Romanian Liga 1 might not be the most popular or glamorous competition among punters worldwide, but the current state of the competition could generate some great value and potential profit in the 15 rounds left to play in 2015. In this article we want to take a look at where the value is and identify the probable trends, teams that will do better than expected and teams that will do worse than expected.
Some of the sides in Liga 1 are close to bankruptcy, most teams are in an insolvency state and there have been massive moves in the transfer market for virtually every side. Six teams will relegate this season. With two rounds already elapsed after the Winter break, there is a pretty strong sense on what is to come in the remaining stages – but the odds are set to see big movements every round due to so many outside factors weighting in on each game.
The table presented to you below is meant to look beyond plain statistics and anticipate which teams will see the best betting value, as well as letting you know which teams are in a state of insolvency or/and having serious financial issues. Keep an eye on the teams with the best betting value associated and you can gain an edge over the bookmakers in the next 3 months.

* Romania Liga 1 standings as of March 4, 2015.
Best value betting teams:
Rapid Bucharest – Rapid changed almost the whole squad in the Winter break, coach included, and is much better than in the first part of the season. They already started 2015 very well and should only get better as they gain cohesion every day. Odds on Rapid should be tasty at least for the next few rounds.
Viitorul – One of the only teams without financial problems. They are renowned for being very strong late in the season and are highly suspected of fixing matches. With legend Gheorghe Hagi owner / coach, they are at least guaranteed favorable refereeing by the football league. Viitorul actually has a decent team this year as well, so look for them to put together a couple of wins in a row at some point in the next 15 rounds, including some “shocking” upsets.
CFR Cluj – CFR is last in the league and played poorly so far in 2015 but the statistics are misleading – they have been penalized 24 points and despite losing some players, they remain a decent team who can defeat anybody in Romania.
Least value betting teams:
Petrolul Ploiesti – one of the best teams in Romania over the past few years, they just entered insolvency and lost some players. They still have a good squad and started 2015 with two wins, so they will have very low odds in the next few rounds – which they will not deserve, because the level of football they play is poor and they will slowly go downhill.
FC Brasov, Otelul Galati, Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt – these sides are pure rubbish and will not gain many points in the 15 rounds left to play, but on the other hand they will also be rated very low by the bookies. Still, a bet on their opponents will generally be worth it even at low odds. Ceahlaul will be the worst among these three relegation – bound teams.

With the first Grand Slam of the year barely underway, we take a look at the men’s draw in the 2015 Australian Open and what is to be expected from the tournament. Last year we had 2 of the 4 Grand Slam winners from outside of the traditional Top 4 and the big question for bettors and tennis fans is if an upset of this magnitude is likely to happen again in Melbourne.
